When will Steve Finnan get the recognition he deserves? (and a song that the kop can sing for him)
At Anfield on saturday, when Sami Hyypia came out onto the pitch, the place erupted, singing 'o Sami Sami…' to mark his return, to which the Finn applauded as a thank you.
Then came the songs for Gerrard, Alonso, Sissoko, Luis Garcia, and then when Finnan looked round everyone went quiet. A few people tried to get a song going for the right back, but it was no where near the same noise as what Hyypia and Gerrard got. I felt sorry for Steve , as he has been consistent at Right back for ages, rarely letting the side down, but doesn't get acknowledged as often as everyone else, and its about time that we all showed him our thanks.
The Liverpool number 3 has clocked up over 140 games for the reds, and is probably one of the first names on the team sheet, as who else could be as reliable as the the former Fulham man? there has not been anyone perform so well for us so often who has not got recognition in the media for it whereas if it were someone for United or Chelsea they would be getting praise heaped on them in the papers.
Help create a new song for Finnan, that can hopefully catch on at the matches, to give him the same applause as the rest of the squad next time the team are warming up before a game.

What do you guys think of Liverpools new kit(Adidas)??? i don’t think much of it, i think the best home kit they had was the UCL jersy, full red with gold numdering. Looked kinda royal(:D)
Pennant is a good player, i’ll admit. But i dont think he has done anything out of the ordinary yet, against Chelsea , we seemed to try and play too many attacks through him and many times our attacks were broken down.
Against West Ham, he was left out on the wing, when the ball was on the opposite side of the field, and he did not really get involved much.
I would like to see Pennant succeed, we have not had a proper right winger for ages, hopefully he can up his game and get involved more. If you look at wingers at other clubs, they bag plenty of goals; Pedersen at Blackburn plays upfront, on the right, on the left, and he always seems to score. When Gudjohnsen was on the right at Chelsea, he scored quite a bit, Ronaldo at Man Utd gets goals on the right or left.
If Pennant doesn’t score, i dont care, as long as he creates something instead.
OK, i’ve noticed you guys have mentioned the potential progress of some of our new signings like Dirk Kuyt and Mark Gonzalez… however, nothing has been said about our right-winger Jermaine Pennant. During our visit at PSV for the UCL, even though we drew, i think that Jermaine Pennant had a fabulous contribution to our attacking sequel, and even though we lost 3-1 to our hometown rivals Everton, i think that Pennant and Alonso really threatened the blues defence. Alonso and Pennant link very well coz you’d notice when Alonso glides those high balls down the wing, pennant always manages to secure it with proper ball control and then sends it down the box. In my opinion… Pennant has one of the best right-foots in England. His crosses are almost perfect.
I thought it was quite quiet aswell, didnt seem to be much singing going on, dont know what happened
I had to register to this forum to do credit to this great player.
Finnan is one of the most underrated right backs in Premiership. Despite his age he still manages to defend and move up to double up as right winger as well. His crosses have proved vital to LFC.
Have the following song for him:
Tune base on the Chicory Tip’s – Son of my father.
Go Stevie Finnan,
Get the ball,
Dribble past,
Unleash the cross.
Come on, Stevie Finnan,
Near the kop,
Just walk tall,
We love you all.
He’s the one on the right and that’s alright.
Editor get it moving fast please!
go kuyt go kuyt
we’ve got a right back called steve finnan
when he’s playing we keep winning
he passes outside and back in again
we’ve got a right back called steve finnan
we’ve got a left back called traore
when he plays its a different story
goal at burnley was his glory
we’ve got a left back called traore
Steve Finnan deserves more credit than he gets, I would proudly stand up with a Microphone and Sing a song for him. lol. Even if i did make a fool of my self. lol.
Finnan is my hero,
He is far from zero,
Knows his stuff when he plays,
he impresses me in so many ways.
He sprints up front,
He stays at the back,
he never puts a foot wrong,
Its just goals that he lacks.
Finnan is my hero,
he is far from Zero,
he is the right- back
he is brilliant and thats a Fact
i`m a spurs fan…and noticed that the noice from your fans was really quite ….not only towards Finnan but during the whole of the game…..when i was younger my dad took me to anfield (hes a liverpool fan). and the noice was amazing.
even at the start all i could hear was from the tanoy system, and not your fans.what happened to the amazing liverpool fans of yesteryear…who sang as loud as anyone…..it was nearly as bad as going to man usa….with the prawn sandwich brigade…..and yes you deserverd to win…by more than 3
Great idea – anyone got some songs for Finnan?

It’s glory round the fields of Anfield Road
It was quite bad, the noise for Hyypia, Alonso and Gerrard was great, but only a few people sang for Finnan, i think someone made up a song but no one knows what it is.
