Liverpool could be looking for a new shirt sponsor next year

In the wake of Manchester United’s £80 million four-year agreement shirt sponsorship agreement with American insurance giant, Aon, Liverpool could well be on their way to the similar lucrative deal next summer — but don’t count on it being with current sponsor Carlsberg.
Liverpool’s main shirt sponsor since 1992 appears to be on the outside looking in with regards to extending their current agreement after next year. The Danish brewer is said to be offering somewhere in the neighbourhood of £40 million, which is half of United’s current deal. At the moment that’s a number that just won’t cut it for a club as big as Liverpool.
Liverpool’s current ownership renewed their contract with the brewer in 2007 when they took over the club. The contract was worth £7.2 million a year for the club, which pales in comparison to the current deal between Aon and Manchester United.
Whilst I will say that Carlsberg have been a loyal sponsor this whole time, I don’t feel that just because they’ve been here for so long that Liverpool should give them a serious discount. If they’re only willing to pay the club £40 million, I’d like to see us say thanks but no thanks to the offer and search for another sponsor.
It appears that ownership is willing to do just that if Carlsberg don’t up the price. The company has until the end of July to strike a new agreement with the club before Liverpool starts looking elsewhere.
Who would you want as a shirt sponsor if we didn’t renew with Carlsberg?

i am sick to death, of thease do gooders. about carlseberg being a devils name? why beacause of drink everyone has a choice thats how it should be.. the choice should not be taken away. if you donot like it don,t do it or buy it. simple…. if we had whisky or should i say bells on our shirts, i would not care as long as is brought in money.. as long as it is not obsene. i don,t smoke but i don,t condeme those who do, its there choice this is the uk for gods sake we belive in people.s choice… and thats the way it should stay…
the ultimate dream would be having Apple as our shirt sponser but it seems unlikely
so i would say B Win but i wouldnt mind carlsberg. i like it
fuck carlsberg..
According to this is anfield website voronin said he’s coming back to liverpool with a point to prove! he said he has what it takes to become a regular in the first team? yea right hence why rafa loaned him out! im hoping he be sold in the coming weeks we dont need him id much rather give the likes of pacheco and nemeth there first team debut’s because they deserve it.
Sponsors rarely sponsor for more that 5 years. It’s time for a fresh name and a fresh injection of cash
According to one of the footy sites we are bein offered negredo and a substantial amount of cash 4 alonso from real madrid its tempting isnt it? we need a striker to play along side torres and negredo has stated that he’d like to play 4 us but then if we sold alonso who would we replace him with? id much rather sell mascherano use that cash to get villa and promote spearing into the first team as he is capable of doing mascherano’s job easily, rouman have you heard any other whispers as to who else we are in 4? or any of the usual suspects on here heard any news on our transfers targets.
also why hasnt johnson been given a squad number yet? or is he holding out for the no2 that dossena currently has?
allright kev, negredo has been linked for a while, i have seen him play in spain as i have a place in almeria. he looks the part in spain, never gives up and knows were the goal is, i think he is 23/24 not sure, yes he might be a good buy.
but nomore than 10mil. as for others, i think first choice is silva. one of them alonso or mash i think will go if not both. but if alonso goes then i would want robbern, snjider, and negredo for alonso. then i would be happy. as for savoila i ve heard rafa was not that keene, plus he wanted first team football.can,t blame him after sitting on the bench all last season. rafa has a list of who he wants, or players, in place to get if he can,t get his first choice. options is what he has, july will be a busy month ,for us all. man city are doing a madrid and buying everyone, next season will be very intresting as for mash well he wants more money, and he might get it to make him stay, but barca do want him. as for johnson yes its either 2, or arbeloas number…
Then the only figure I would like to see is 80 million for them both. Reason you may ask?
Well Real have the money and really want him(Alonso) I think he is the best midfielder in his position in england. So 35mill isnt too much to ask.
Mascherano is really wanted by Barca. So a 40-45 million price tag isnt too much to ask is it.
Dont get me wrong I rather both stayed. We need to improve not sell, but if we buy quality with the 80million then i think it sounds reasonable.
How do these big football clubs choose suppliers
I wish to join my hands with Liverpool… Isn’t it a good deal?
yes!!!!!!!!!! about time they changed that thing, i think they should get……. japanese company or well a decent company likecar companies
First of all i think that liverpool should get a lot more. If you compare this figures with what RM is getting then this is less then peanuts.
Second, selling of aberloa and alonso was a great deal and buying aquilani immediately was even better.
Regards!
I am the fan of liverpool. Liverpool make my life cool and cheers.
Sponsoring is good way of promoting. Since Liverpool is a worldwide club, it could be a big help for shirt companies the Liverpool will promote.
hi russell, from reading the article – I take it the figure in the 2nd paragrph should read much less than £80m?
typo on my part. They’re currently offering around £40m
Coca-cola/fly emirates/etihad airways/ n many more
I would rather they not go with Beer sponsors. That way, there will be many fans who can buy Liverpool jerseys due to their moral or religious beliefs.
I agree with the anonymous post above. I don’t think that they should go with a beer sponsor either, just because it could possibly limit their market. I don’t know how some parents would feel letting their little ones being a walking advertisement of beer. I think they should go with something like coca cola, something classic like that if it was possible.
it does not matter, if its beer or brandy on the shirts. as long as we get top[ dollar for it.i cannot stand this rubbish/ or dogooders, its football people drink. people smoke, get a life. if its a religous thing, thats worse because that has no place in football.keep poltics, and religon out of it. those who wish not to drink there choice, but those who do well its there choice too. and my freinds let me tell you 95% drink in liverpool….and eddie 888 your right kuyt did ok last season would i sell him too right i would,,,i would take silva anyday…
i have already put up this question b4 if any of u remember?
i said it would probably b a good idea 2 ask “SIR”richard branston pickle in other words VIRGIN
after all he is a multi billionaire isnt he?
or even better ask the queen lol shes got money
I’m in agreement with most of you in that I want top dollar for our shirt sponsorship. I’m getting tired of watching Arsenal, the mancs, and Chelsea all get megabucks whilst we continue to get left out. It’s time to up the ante and put Carlsberg to the sword. It’s time to pay or walk in my opinion.
Im sick to of the likes of the mancs with there awesome amount of money 4 there sponsors theres dwafs our’s we need something like MICROSOFT or APPLE as our next sponsors imagine that bill gates with microsoft one of the richest blokes in the world now that would be nice its time 4 change coz we’ve had carlsberg far to long.
YNWA REDMAN 4 EVER.
fuck microsoft LOL im a ps3 man so i say sony haha
Liverpool is a worldwide club so it doesnt matter how much Liverpool locals drink, it matters what the world thinks. I think it is important to have a moral sponsor otherwise its like buying Ronaldo, you get results but his antics brings down the respect of the club. It is about money thats for sure but there are no doubt a number of sponsors offering the same money but some may represent a more marketable approach.
you talk rubbish, liverpool is a world wide surrported club. but the locals allways have, and will come first.THATS A FACT moral grounds were advertizing is concered meens money whatever they have on there shirts, as long as it is not obsene. nonsense scousers would not care what people thought around the world, to us nothinik can bring down this club.the ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION IS WHO PAYS THE MOST GETS THE ADVERTIZING REGAUDLESS, SECONDLY YOU DO NOT KNOW LIVERPOOL, IF YOU DID YOU WOULD NOT BE TALKING CRAP. AND LAST ASK THE PLAYERS WHO COME FROM LIVERPOOL, EVEN THE FANS, WE DO NOT CARE WHAT THE WORLD OR YOU THINK ABOUT ARE ADVERTIZING, IF IT BOTHERS YOU THAT MUCH GO SURRPORT SOMEONE ELSE..
