Most people would admit it was a cross, but after seeing Gerrard score screamer after screamer over the years, it’s not easy to tell..

a cross, the positioning of his body indicates a cross, he knows it as well, arms, head all indicate this

i remember when Dick Kuyt score one in Holland, he told after the game back at the hotel when i was pile driving him that itwas a
cross, when i see him later at the hotel will ask him if Gerrard cross

Whether he meant it or not is not to be argued. After so many years of doing fine jobs for LFC, he deserved this ( on his not so good day nevertheless ).

Yeah he meant it alright, we seen him hit em like that before, it’s just that he is usually somewhere near the D area, great stuff yesterday, when they equalised i thought oh no here we go again, but having seen the game, it’s carra and skrtle for some reason not communicating at times this season ever since smashing heads at spurs, but geovanni took his goal well and gave reina no chance, good news that cech will not be playing next week, chelsea are fantastic when they are winning but tend to point fingers like schoolboys when it goes a bit wrong, lets hope they are in that mindset next week, 1-0 and no injuries against fiorentina will be ok, can’t wait for next sunday.

Mean it or not, know one will know! What we do know is that he struck it sweetly and the ball whipped it self across the penalty area and was always rotating in a direction that made it swing into goal. It will still stand as one of the goals of the season in the Premier League!

Looks as if he is trying to cross it. However he over loads it with spin in the hope that he can curve it round to the back post for a tap in or even a goal. I would say its 50.50 between cross shot either way a great goal

He’s wondering if he meant that kick as well. He sounds so unsure and says, “Steve Gerrard manages to nicely finish that shot.” I happen to speak Hungarian, so this video was a nice surprise :)

When the ball came out to Gerrard, the best option was to whip it in towards the far post so that someone gets a tap-in or it flies straight in. He did the right thing, did it brilliantly and got a goal out of it. Well done, who cares if he meant it.
