In times like these when there seems to be a black cloud hanging over our beloved club, I like to take a moment and watch highlights of this match. Sure, it’s probably not right to keep looking into the past every time something in the present is going wrong, but for a moment, just one moment, I’m able to relive these glorious moments at Old Trafford last year when we took it to the mancs on their own pitch.
Sunday’s match, like the one back in March, is one where a season could be revived or lost in a mere 90 minutes. Last year, we needed those three points to stay within striking distance of United. On Sunday, we’ll need those three points again for the very same reason: to stay within striking distance.
I hate using ultimatums this early in the year, but when Liverpool walk on the pitch and look into the eyes of the opponent staring across from them, they won’t just be playing for pride and the chance to make it two in a row against United. For all intents and purposes, they’ll also be playing for the season.
Sitting in eight at the moment, seven points back of United, I’d love to say a defeat on Sunday wouldn’t end our title hopes for the year. But you know I’d be lying through my teeth if I said that. Regardless of if Gerrard, Torres and Johnson are fit for the weekend, the players who step foot on the pitch have a job to do. They need to take care of business and keep us in the league race.
They need to wash away the bitter taste of four consecutive defeats. I’m tired of losing, and I’m sure many of you are as well. There’s also been a lot of talk regarding Rafa’s status at the club. Whilst, we all seem to have an opinion, I’d like to ask you all to put your opinion aside for those 90 minutes and support the entire squad, manager and all. They deserve and need us behind them.
With that said, I hope we twat those manc f****s on Sunday and show them once again why we’re the best club in the world.
When you walk through a storm
Hold your head up high
And don’t be afraid of the dark
At the end of the storm
Is a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark
Walk on through the wind
Walk on through the rain
Though your dreams be tossed and blown
Walk on walk on with hope in your heart
And you’ll never walk alone
You’ll never walk alone
Walk on walk on with hope in your heart
And you’ll never walk alone
Make sure you catch the LIVE BLOG on Sunday. I’ll be here leading the way once again!
