Still no news on the club sale despite “hope

They say no news is good news; clearly not in this case. Liverpool fans are still left wondering what is happening regarding the sale of the club, despite talk in July that the club was ‘on course’...

Liverpool face Lyon in the Champion’s League tonight, but given the fact that Rafa has an injury list longer than his arm; who do you think should play?

The squad is as follows: Reina, Cavalieri, Carragher, Ayala, Darby, Insua, Agger, Kyrgiakos, Kuyt, Lucas, Benayoun, Aquilani, Babel, Mascherano, Spearing, Plessis, Ngog, Voronin, Torres.

Reina is undoubtedly going to be in goal; while Carra is pretty much guaranteed to start although if that is at right or centre back remains to be seen.

I reckon we should go 442 with:
Reina
Darby Carra Agger Insua
Kuyt Mascherano Aquilani Benayoun
Babel Torres

Voronin: Row 90 in the stands.
Who do you think can keep our CL hopes alive?

Mascherano Lucas
Kuyt Aquilani Benayoun

Though Babel or Ngog up with Torres, Benayoun left side if Aquilani misses out

We need 11 torres on the pitch if we wanna win guys its gonna be a very tough game the likes of playing lucas, kuyt, voronin, babel & ngog is a complete waste of time id rather bring the likes of eccelstone, pacheco, ayala etc etc….. in to the first team its going to be a long night god bless us!

Ive just seen the team on ssnews its

reina
carragher
kyrigiakos
insua
agger

benayoun
mascherano
lucas
kuyt

voronin
torres

Now there is 3 problems with that side the first big 2 is lucas and voronin! WTF! then kuyt! he isnt a winger nor striker! we must be the biggest laughing stock going why doesnt aquilani start ahead of lucas? is this what our team has come down to? id rather play eccelstone up front than that useless turd voronin who hasnt scored this season! we will get ripped to shreads! god help us!!!

Why so negative so often? Lucas is doing fine, Aquilani has had 30 mins football since March, it would have been a huge risk to start with him in a high-stakes, high-octane clash.

Voronin is a risk, I’d have been tempted to go with Ngog or Babel, but maybe his preference to drop deep may have played in his favour – create a bit of space for Torres.

OMFG! VORONIN ONE ON WITH THE KEEPER AND HE HIT IT STRAIGHT AT HIM THE USELESS PIECE OF FCUKING CRAP!

PATHETIC! PATHETIC! PATHETIC! There was nothing to take from that game what so ever! we was our usual shit self and the usual suspects was pathetic once again! the subs was made at the wrong fcuking time again! why didn’t aquilani come on????

Why wasn’t that USELESS long haired prick replaced at half time???? how the hell lucas & kuyt plays 90 mins every week is mind boggling it really is! as soon as we scored rafa then puts on ngog for the last 4-5 mins! why didnt he start with ngog instead of voronin???? i know ngog is just as bad but anyone is better than voronin! we are now out of the CL there is no way we will qualify now we should of had the game won in the first half it shows that our squad just simply isn’t good enough we are average at best! RAFA JUST SIMPLY HAS TO GO i dread to think what the RAFA lovers are going to say it will be in favour of that useless spanish twat! its my birthday next thurs guys and the best birthday prezzie i can hope 4 now is that either rafa walks or gets sacked, that would be the best birthday present ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IF I COULD GET YOU A BIRTHDAY PREEZZIE KEV J IT WOULDNT BE TO GET RID OF RAFA!!! IT WOULD BE A ONE WAY TICKET TO THE AFGHANISTAN COS YOUR A PAIN IN THE ARSE!!!!

anyone agree?????????????????

Leivameout go and get fcuked you obviously a manc not many will agree with u tosser!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BOOTLE BOY MATE, BORN AND BRED!!!! APART FROM YOUR LITTLE CLIQUE U GOT ON HERE I THINK MOST PEOPLE WILL AGREE THAT YOUR POSTS ARE THOSE OF AN ANGRY YOUNG BOY WITH ISSUES!!!! GOBSHITE XX

Leivameout thats good u know your a manc! u been on here 5 mins and u already think u rule the roost if u dont like my posts which ive been doing here for the past 2 yrs then ive got 2 words for you! rafa will be gone b4 xmas then we’ll see who laughing! u dont know much about football do you??????? your just like the others cant see the problems like us proper fans ur like rafa ur blind maybe u need to go to specsavers too??????????

“Proper Fans”?? Meaning what? Proper fans who are hounding the manager without seeing anything other than the tiny picture?

Proper fans are not nearly so blinkered and reactionary mate, they support the team no matter who wears the shirt or picks the team. we are not Newcastle, pinning our dreams on false messiahs and thinking we are owed success.

We are all devastated at the result, but the vitriol spewed towards Rafa – this message board seems the worst for it – is getting real tiresome, and the worst of it is you don’t seem to have a logical, methodical complaint, preferring to simply jump on every decision and add it to Rafa’s crimesheet, which is debatable at best.

Liverpool played really well tonight. Missed a few good chances – Voronin’s was the best of the lot – and then were punished for the only major defensive mix up of the night. Unlucky. Criticising Lucas tonight also appears a bit rich, the lad put in a superb performance, and was only denied a goal of his own by a world class save from Lloris.

Its a nightmare scenario, and one I dont think we will escape from, but the damage was done in Florence by a poor first half, and at Anfield by a poor second half. Tonight it is hard to feel anything other than sympathy for the team, who worked their balls off and deserved better on the night.

NOW THATS WHAT I CALL A GOOD POST!!

SOME-ONE WHO SPEAKS SENCE FOR A CHANGE…
THANKS NEIL.

READ IT AND WEEP KEV J!!!!!

BOOTLE I SAID, HALF HOUR WALK FROM ANFIELD. I TAKE IT TO HEART WHEN YOU CALL ME A MANC SO PLEASE DONT DO IT AGAIN U ANGRY YOUNG MAN.

leivameout are you still here????????????? MANC!

HAVE YOU EVER ACTUALLY BEEN TO A GAME??

WELL PLAYED TNITE BOYS, THOUGHT YOU WERE VERY UNLUCKY!!

GET TO BED KEV J, YOU GOT SCHOOL IN THE MORNIN!!!

Leivameout im only having a giraffe with u man chin up!

We can sing YNWA as much as we like but it doesn’t scare teams any more and that’s simply because we don’t have the players who other teams fear. You are so right Kev we are in an absolute mess as a club. We can’t seem to pass accurately, lack ideas, can’t control a pass when we get one and can’t put away a chance when it comes to us – that overpaid and totally useles `striker’ Voronin yet again tonight being a prime example. Gerrard must have been as sick as a parrot. I will love this club till the day I die but I really fear for us at the moment. We have owners who clearly don’t understand what the club is all about, a manager who seems to perhaps have done all he can for us and players who scare no-one. We have the odd day (that one against the Mancs was one!!) when we look the goods but then we throw away all the ground we have made like last Saturday. The CL has been a nightmare and I watched every game and apart from our fortunate first home game we have been outclassed. Don’t tell me anything different! I know we have injuries but so does every other club. What we don’t have is good enough cover for the one or two good players we have at PL and CL level. Benitez keeps saying that he has players for the future and this may be so, but our need is right now. As I said earlier I fear for the club. I hate Leeds with a passion but unless soemone gets hold of this club reasonably quickly I can see us going down their path. Nobody thought it would happen at Elland Road but it did. I really don’t know where we as a club should or can start to rebuild as I believe we have now got to a point when we should rebuild. Our PL season is gone, as is the CL, the Carling Cup was bugger all and well I suppose the FA Cup would be something. But we have huge problems to overcome in the immediate future. Will Torres want to stay? You have to ask that question. Similarly if we are on the slide how do we get quality players to want to come hear. I really am in a state of despair!

How many games do we have to lose before we get rid of Rafa. He was responsible for letting Alonso go, and for spending GBP45m on a defender and an injured midfielder, and then he moans about money.

He has bought and sold astiker almost every season -Bellamy, Crouch and Keane – so its pretty obvious he does not know who to sign.

We do have good players but our midfield is poor. Enough said about Voronin – no arguments there – but the Lucas-Kuyt-Babel contingent is looking quite ordinary.
Not only do they look toothless in attack but the likes of Lucas give away too many free kicks in dangerous areas.

Unless Benetiz goes and we get a manager who recognizes talent and signs the right players we’ll get nowhere. And that’s a fact.

The recent starting eleven has been ridic-licka-licka-lous

Rafa’s Tactics – or lack thereof

You look at the goals we concede – against chelsea and fulham in particular – and you’ll see that goals are conceded when we needlessly give away possession in midfield, with players trying to carry the ball forward but not having the confidence or the options to pass the ball to a team-mate.

Gerrard, Riera and Benayoun are great with the ball at their feet running towards goal and threatening defenders but in the past few weeks with missed Gerrard and Riera and Benayoun keeps on being subbed leaving us with few midfield attacking options.

Its only against United where the midfielders played wonderfully and won us the game.

a big let down everything has gone now we have lost too many games now ppl r saying “DONT RAFA THIS DONT RAFA THAT NOT HIS FAULT” well id like 2 say is its him who picks the damn teams week in week out yes the man u match was outstanding why cant we play like that all times ? the ref was blind all through the match
WE NEED 2 GET SOME HELP & FAST

Some great banter there KevJ as usual, not sure how old everyone is but I have been going and supporting for 30yrs now and for the 1st time ever I wanted to turn the tv off against Fulham it was the worst 2nd half I think I have ever seen. Tonight was a better show but I think game after game at the moment our flow and midfield is awful. I am not going to go on about Lucas too much he just is not good enough I can’t remember a starting line up he would get a game in he makes Cheyrou look like Pele and Pony tail would be hard pushed to play in my subuteo team, babel has the 1st touch of a blind man, then the defence seems more at sea then I have ever seen, bring back Glen Hysyen = seriously it’s been a long time since we have put out a team week after week with so many bad players to the point where its dragging the good ones down, Mash looks throughly pissed off and Torres and Beny even the most positive players in the team look like they have had enough -Kuyt and Jamie. I am not a Rafa hater but I am a football lover and better red to the bone but I have finally reached a point that I thought would never happen and that was a part of me hoped we lost tonight so he would get the boot. I know I am going to get some stick for saying that but its time for some new direction some new passion time for change………………..

I don’t think many of us would disagree with what you are saying but where are the players OF EPL STANDARD who will come in to lift us? We can’t do anything until January and we simply until then will have to (God forbid) rely on rubbish (and that’s being kind) like Voronin, lead footed Babel etc, etc. Reira has only one trick and is clearly not in Benitez’s long term plans. My main concern is for the morale of Torres. If he gets the shits with the club and wants away then we should all feel pretty scared. Clearly he and Gerrard are the only two, yes the only two, players at Anfield at the moment who worry the opposition. If Torres pulls the pin the club are stuffed. Torres is not stupid, he is ambitious and he won’t want to be with a club that is, at the very best at the moment, only treading water. Like you Mark Walters Step Over, I expect to get stick for saying this, but as I said a few days ago we can sing YNWA till we’re blue in the face but we simply do not worry the opposition any more. Yes we’ll get up for the odd game like the Mancs but whether we like to hear it or not, we have no consitency, little skill that the PL requires and no idea of who should be running where or who should be marking who at any given time.

how ya doing mark walters step over well someone had to say something i dont care what leivameout has to say i know im right ive been supporting liverpool for 25 yrs im not having someone tell me whats what when everything i say about rafa and his team selections and mad subs is 100% correct ok i go on but its only out of love for LFC i want us to win everything and every game we play is that a bad thing?? i dont think it is,but as you know george i agree with you as i always do same goes with otleyred and rouman and the usual suspects on here your also right julie its rafa that picks the team every week and makes the subs he cant whinge about not having money coz he has and spent it on crap! any other manager that had the sort of money rafa had would of made us PL champs twice over! rafa is an average manager at best and he needs to be shown the door sooner rather than later!

scientists say that when u love some one so much then the negative part of your brain is inactivated. You always think positively about the guy. Ladies should know this better(Btw am not a doctor so don’t ask me about this!) so those still in favor of Rafa i forgive you but the longer it takes to see the reality the more it hurts you at the end. We may look some young annoyed bitter Yong men but i don’t care.

i wanted a win but when lyon equalized i also just needed a loss to help those who still can’t believe what they see after all the difference is now the similarity as far as CL is concerned.
Where as i may not say RB is a poor manager but i can confidently assure you that he will never win the EPL with LFC. And KEV J happy birthday in advance mine was on the last Wednesday when Arsenal boys kicked the hell out of US i think it was one of my worst i don’t wana remember it!.

Lastly we still have a chance to win the EPL the season is still fresh and the Mancs and chelsea are not on fire as such. All we need is to SACK SACK SACK RB he even seems to attract bad luck like a magnet!!

Before u rejoice let me remind u that we also stand an equal chance of being relegated you don’t believe me keep supporting Rafa and you will see.

Fans? Supporters? Loyal?

Spoilt more like. I seriously do not know where to start with some of the pitiful, pig headed excuses for arguments being put forward by you lot.

Liverpool fans are admired the world over for their patience, their ability to back a manager and support their side through thick and thin. The people who feel this have obviously never visited this forum and heard the pathetic negativity being spewed from all quarters. Very few things in life rile me, but the narrow-mindedness here appalls me, it really does.

My job as a Liverpool correspondent has allowed me to see so much more behind the scenes than ever before*, and all I can say is that the club has problems running right through it. No decision, be it tactical, transfer market or PR, is black and white. There are a million factors which go into every single decision.

Warring, uncommunicative owners, a poorly-maintained academy structure where players are too comfortable and not given the motivation to kick on and become first team material – something which King Kenny has been brought in to help remedy – and an incredibly delicate financial situation, make it such a difficult job for Benitez and his team. Yet six months ago, they went as close as anyone has been in the last 19 years to delivering a league title. Six months ago. And suddenly he is the devil incarnate after a few bad results and performances? You “fans” need to grow up, and realise what football is like.

* A little example for you. Did you know why we pretty much HAD to get Glen Johnson in this summer? Portsmouth have not even finished paying CHELSEA for him, and owed half of the Peter Crouch fee to us. Benitez was looking at Kyle Naughton of Sheffield Utd and Rafinha of Schalke, but took a decision that, in order to avoid missing out on the money owed for Crouch, we could get Johnson in, up our English quota and add a player of quality to replace Arbeloa, who wanted out.

Portsmouth have since been banned from transfers due to money owed to Chelsea & Arsenal, money which they are unlikely to ever receive. So Liverpool, by having a smart manager and CEO, avoided falling into this trap, whilst adding a very good signing at the same time. Yet, what gets reported? “Reds ripped off for Johnson”…..don’t believe all you read in the red tops.

Anyway, my rant is over. I am not one to hold grudges, or to get into slanging matches, but the criticisms being levelled at OUR CLUB’s MANAGER is over the top and really, really grates.

Neil
