Squad for Debrecen tie announced: Only 2 strikers in the squad (and no Voronin!)

Liverpool have announced their squad to face Debrecen in their make or break tie in the Champion’s League this week; with Rafa only naming two strikers in his squad – Kuyt & N’Gog. There is no place for Voronin even to warm the bench after his failure to impress in Lyon.

Debrecen have been the whipping boys this season; leaking 14 goals and failing to secure a single point in the group stages; so there’s no reason we can’t win with the team we have available – there’s still Gerrard, Benayoun, Kuyt, N’Gog, Agger and Johnson who can all have a say in this tie.
Kuyt is a striker?
Could have fooled me with that last performance against ManCity. Or any of his other performances this Season.
But oh yeah, I forgot:………he’s Kuyt. So under Benitez, he can never be dropped.
Benitez would have been better off naming N’Gog and El-Zhar or even N’Gog and Voronin, if we were to have any hope of scoring.
Let’s just hope that N’Gog, is in fine scoring (or diving) form, otherwise, we should just start looking at those Europa League fixture schedules.
I know i said i wont be back unless that prick has been sacked but i cant help it guys liverpool is in my blood and it always will be i know rafa really gets my goat but i aint staying away coz of that twats misfortunes towards our club ill just have to ride it out like the rest of us (he really does get me goin tho!)
Crimson red ur spot on with your assesment of kuyt i think we all know he isnt liverpool quality let alone a striker his overall play is shambolic! i know i keep goin on about this Q’s but i cant understand 4 the life of me why pacheco hasnt been given his chance he had a brilliant pre-season and yet lucas and kuyt plays shit every week and starts game after game if rafa is such a great tactian like he says he is why does he keep making the same MISTAKES week in week out everything will become alot clearer on tuesday night im hope he isnt with us 4 much longer we need a new face to re-fresh everything up i hope its sooner rather than later!
hi kev i keep writing things on here, yet there removed why? anymore of this and i won,t come on here anymore. were here to write what we think. not to agree with admin on this site. i have said there were noises comming out of anfield on sat, about rafa. and if he does not change his ways he will be gone, kuyt, lucas not one fan i met on sat or anyother day rate either. i have backed rafa all the way and will till the end of the season, then if its the same he has to go. i know only too well how football can easily change, i hope for liverpool,s sake it does. i also have written for a poll to be done on rafa, to see how many fans have turned. just waiting for it to be approved by the admin staff at anfield red. kuyt is a lot worse than lucas, because lucas is a kid kuyt is 29, and will only get worse if that is possible. he should be the first one out…

kjaer looks a good player, the mancs want him too. if we have no money it looks like vanthe manc, might be on his shoping list. kev rafa still has most fans on his side, but there are more turning, my mate loved rafa, now heis on his dart board, full of holes. thats why i have asked for a poll on here, to see how many have turned on here. lets just say rafa is livining close to the edge. pacheco, and nemeth should be used were out of everthink now so for me its time to give the kids a go…

Kjaer is a defender. A central defender. And a very highly rated one. 20 years old, capped by Denmark, smart on the ball and dominant in the air. He won’t be coming here in January, we cannot afford him. Bet your last dollar on that.
Van Nistelrooy is a non-starter. He wants out of RM because of lack of game-time, he would have a similar problem at Liverpool if Torres was fit. His wages are in excess of 100k p/w, and our financial position is such that paying squad players those kind of wages is a no-go.
The general mood at Anfield, I believe, is one of disappointment and confusion. No one in their right mind believes that suddenly we are a bad team with a bad manager, to think so is nothing short of stupid. We have ran into a horrible run of form, aided by some bad injury problems, some underachieving squad players, and a slowness to adapt our way of playing. Benitez has made some mistakes, so have his players, so have the board. At the moment our luck is out, and our confidence is low.
And despite everything, all the warped stats, all the tabloid lies, all the thoughtless vitriol, we are not out of everything yet. I think we will be out of the CL tomorrow personally, but whilst there’s light there’s a chance, and there is still 25 games, 75 points to be played for in the league, plus the FA Cup. Not ideal but sometimes the best has to be made of a bad situation.

i hope you are doing grate. Julie this one we need to score as many goals as we can. may be even better than what spurs did to wigan. First to keep our hope of qualification on life support for more few minutes but most importantly to regain our confidence!!.
we are doing badly in confidence and it looks like almost a century ago since we last scored for fun.
But unsurprisingly Rafa is going again with only 2 strikers or so called strikers Kuyt and Ngong. I only hope to see Aquillani play at least 45min. He needs more time to gain match fitness he can’t get it on the bench and i think he can’t be worse than Lucas. otherwise i still have some hope 4 the CL because our Luck rarely comes but when it does it is always a historical one.

Foot ball is funny. One shyt player can cause you to loose week in week out especially if your opponents discover it before you that’s why Managers like Rafa are employed. We all know Lucas is weak but rafa has given him the central role of connecting defense and attack which has made every body under perform at best and at worst created disorganization like in any 10 men team as every body tries to cover up.
Its only similar stubborn manager’s like Fagie who always want to look different that failed to capitalize on the public secret of our weakness and ended up loosing to us.
Btw have you guys noticed that for the last two consecutive draws Lucas has wasted glorious chances for a winner in the last seconds of the match. What other chances cam he get to win the fans other than those!!

You are right Kev. In all that happened or didn’t happen last night the absolutely baffling thing is benitez giving Aquilani only a few seconds. If anyone has seen benitez’s post match press conference and he was asked why this was, I would dearly love to hear his answer. It will have to be brilliant for him to convince me (sorry about this Rouman) that he has not completely lost the plot. I’m even begining to wonder if he might not be in the Dalglish/Souness category where the sheer pressure of managing a club as big as LFC has stopped him thinking clearly. We need a new manager (something I never thought I would say after istanbul) but what we need even more is players with better EPL and CL ability. You will not get Mourinho etc, etc to come to Anfield if all that they have to manage is Babel, Kuyt, useless Lucas and so on.

Rouman well said – again!! The only difference between me and you is that I am not a scouser. We love the Redmen whatever they are doing. Christ they have given us more up’s than down’s in our lifetime – and that’s something we should not forget. But we can’t escape the fact that where we are now is not what a club such as ours should be. We should not be playing in the f…ing Eurpoa Cup, we don’t belong in it. But having said that, we certainly do deserve it this year and I suppose the very least we can do as a club is to win it. I dread to think if we don’t, how truly weak will that make us look!!!! My big big fear is Torres and what he might have in his contract. He didn’t come to us to play in the Europa Cup. He is of course far better than that. He lucklily seems settled here, contract signed or not, but if the EPL continues to be a nightmare, who knows what his thoughts might be towards moving on!
hi george were all fans, i just happen to be a local lad that loves, the city, people, and are team. i will miss so much when i move to spain in 2years. my wife loves spain and we have a home there, and i do spend a lot of time there. i will allways be back and forward, but i know for me it will be hard. but liverpool have had bad times before and we have allways come through them, i remeber istanbull grown men crying ; that is when we had won. when we were 3/0 down it was like a wake, then it started i have been to many great games, this one blew me away. we just would not give up, that day, and i know there were others, made me proud to be a liverpool fan. we had no fear, it was like being in a diffrent zone , one reason i back rafa but it the team for me i will not go agaist them. and then there,s common sense rafa has to improve or give someone else a go, i understand that to but he got us into this mess he should be given the chance to get us out. i belive everyone deserves that, so if at the end of the season its bad then he should and i think will go. kenny won,t take the job ive heard he is loyal to rafa and thinks this would be like stabbing him in the back. so who? with the yanks in charge noone would want a job with no money, thease are facts. there is a lot of deadwood at liverpool it needs to be moved on. and rafa should check his scouts, even ask kenny for advice, noone would know all in all its liverpool a team i will allways follow…..

The club is in the worst state since the mid 50’s and if no one recognised Stevie G’s comments about the consequneces of failing to qualify for the CL for some individual players you should consider the options of continuing with this prick in charge.
Europa League football and a pot at the FA Cup is not what £230M should deliver.
He has clearly lost the dressing room and should resign – if he is too stubborn then sack the clown and see what the tribunal makes of his “progress” to date.
