Voronin: Simply not good enough

Hopefully Rafa saw the negatives in Andriy Voronin’s performance last night; rather than claiming he is a good player who can have an impact on this season. He proved last night he is nowhere near good enough to play for Liverpool; it’s time for the number 10 to move on.
I honestly beleive he would struggle to maintain his place in the side in any team in the Premiership; and after seeing his name on the teamsheet last night I c0uldn’t help but watch in despair as he wasted that amazing opportunity in the first half.
After getting 11 goals in 20 appearances for Hertha Berlin last season, it looked like we might have had someone on our books who can find the net but was just lacking confidence, how wrong were we? 12 games this season; no goals.
A striker’s initial job is to score goals; simple as. Secondly, they have to get in the correct positions, hold up the ball and bring others into play – when Lyon were on the attack Voronin was dropping back, but was caught out when Makoun aimed a driven shot just over the bar in the first half; something which Mascherano took particular exception to and made a point of explaining that was his man who got the shot away.
Voronin lost the ball far more than any other player last night, and alright some people might say other players miss chances; there is no way any other player in our starting 11 would have side footed that shot straight at the keeper.
Also; watch the celebrations of Liverpool’s second goal against United (scored by N’gog) from the bench, Torres goes mental while Voronin sits there with his arms crossed. It is time for Voronin to leave, Rafa shipped Robbie Keane away quick enough; we should have bitten the hands off Berlin when they offered £2million for the lack of brain from Ukraine.

He might have been free but his inability to put it away may have costs us £30M in Champions League revenue. I’m not one for bashing any Liverpool player but he should never play for us again.
If last night wasn’t an advert for how badly we need to buy David Villa, I don’t know what else will be. The owners have to do something as Voronin is a disgrace to the number on the back of that shirt.

To be fair, Lucas was good yesterday and has been improving. I don’t think this is all Rafa he has to play what he can afford to buy.

I’d still sell Babel in January (hopefully that strike has increased his price tag) and to be honest I have consider a wipe round to help Hertha Berlin afford the £1.5M just to see the back of Vorinin!
The thing i dont understand guys and maybe the usual suspects can answer this Q’s why is it that voronin can get a game 4 the first team doesnt look close to scoring,missing chance after chance he brings nothing to the team and utter crap! yet in the reserves we got a young prodigy who is hungary 4 first team action he is dani pacheco who has got pace,skill can score goals is much the better player than voronin and yet is UN-ABLE TO GET A GAME IN THE FIRST TEAM! we are crying out 4 goals to take the burden off torres pacheco can do that job no problem but rafa doesnt see this WHY! ITS ASTONISHING HOW HE HASNT HAD A CALL UP IT REALLY IS.

RB won’t play Pacheco as he won’t play Kelly, Darby, Ayala – didn’t play Guthrie, Warnock etc.
The more people scream for Pacheco the more Voronin will play – it’s a delightful trait the manager has called stubborness.
Saving Torres for 4 minutes was a master stroke – he should really be up for the Birmingham game now.
we played well, and didnot deserve to get beat. voronin is so poor he makes vinny jones, look like pele. he cost us the game i would have rather seen babel play the whole game. i hope in jan we get some money for a new striker, i would get rid of babel, voronin , and kuyt. we need class and those three donot have it, i canot see lyon beating florentina, as floretina are a better team, than lyon. over the 2 legs we were better than lyon, we just didnot have the luck, and we had voronin. were too now? hell knows….
Hi Rouman. I’m sick of writing about our teams failings up front and I’ve sworn not to even mention V…….in again!! He’s not worth it! I think you said last week that Pachecho had played for Spain U 19’s? I’d love to see him in, or at least a sub, for Brum game but chance of that is slim I think!!! I see that Birmingham’s new owner has pledged 40 million for new players in January. Silence coming out of Anfield re. money for January. Oh dear!

I don’t think for a second that he’s as terrible as is being made out to be. Whenever he has played he’s given 100% which is all you can ask of a player, the only problem is that he hasn’t been very effective.
I’m sure he is a skillful player, quite capable of scoring goals (He scored 11 in 20 games at Hertha Berlin last season) and certainly not even close to the worst player to pull on the shirt (does no one remember the colossal signings of Sean Dundee or Erik Meijer).
We’re all annoyed at how things are going but don’t take it out on Voronin. He was bought by Rafa, and Rafa is very controlling in the way he managers and wants players to play, it was obvious that it didn’t work the first time so he was sent out on loan, he’s come back and we can’t get rid of him nor can we buy anyone to replace him. Rafa has to play what he’s got and he’s the best that we have available with the injuries at the moment.
Remember Keane came with a reputation as a goalscorer, he was useless for us despite his obvious desperation to prove his worth. He just couldn’t work within Rafa’s system. I believe Voronin is in the same boat.

I have liked what I have seen of RB up to last season when he played sooo negatively in the first 1/2 of the season and we dropped points all over the show, then in the second 1/2 of the season he sets them up to play attractive attacking footy and we nearly did it

Oh the only reasion he shipped out Keano so fast was because parry bought Keano and he was making a point. The point he is making now is “I bought Voronin and he’s not that bad” Idiot
Whilst I believe it a little excessive to focus criticism on strikers whenever the team is doing badly(clearly since the loss of alonso the balance has gone in midfield – and the same can be said for the defence since hypia went) There is one player who shouldn’t really get the chance to start a liverpool game and it is voronin. Not to say that he is rubbish, I think he just doesn’t have anything near ‘lethal finishing’ to justify a place in a premiership nevermind a champions league match. I notice that the critics of Babel an Ngog simmer down after they score a goal. If Liverpool had not conceded a goal late toLyon I think people would have questioned their views on Babel. Babel and ngog are not rubbish. I don’t like Babel because the last thing liverpool need is a player who appears despondant ; granted there are things happening off the pitch regarding his future. I would sell babel if i had the chance and keep ngog. Voronin could be replaced by a reserve. I have been very impressed by Aquilani and if they can sort out a balanced midfield easier said than done liverpool can go on a run ok I think the season is finished for liverpool already, but remember under souness 93-94 I believe 8th place!! .I think a top 4 finish is a ‘minimum’ Outside top 6 and I would call for a new manager, but personally I still stick with the present manager his track record is too good (games won on a parity with King Kenny etc, considering Rafa is from the ‘negative’ school of football management that is not bad)
You got to laugh sometimes or you will go mad, anyone who thinks voronin is a good player is already there, he was crap when we signed him and why we let him come back is beyond me, and i’m not judging him on wednesday game, perhaps this season the law of averages are catching up with us, we had some real good luck last season, we could have and probably should have beaten lyon twice, some good chances in both games, you can point the finger at many LFC players for poor play so far this season.
Ive just come off the liverpool website and i was just reading a story that rafa says that we haven’t seen the best of lucas yet! is he 4 real this bloke! he isnt gona get better!he’s played 86 games for us and only scoring 4 goals since 2007 and he says we aint seen the best of him do me a favour rafa! he has a shit eye 4 talent he really does need to get new glasses! so does this mean lucas will start a-head of aquilani on mon night? voronin isnt good enough either! 39 games and only 6 goals! no where near good enough 4 PL standards and RB thinks voronin can have a big impact this season NO CHANCE! who also has read the papers 2day that barca are gonna make a 85m bid 4 shrek boy in the summer! hold on a minute if shrek boy is suppose to be worth 85m then torres is close to 100m right?? he has more skill,pace,scores more goals good in the air has everything shrek hasnt right or wrong??? 85m for rooney do me a favour!!!!!!
