The latest names to the physio table include the likes of Yossi Benayoun and Albert Riera, both of which are dealing with knocks that could see them miss matches after the international break. With the injuries mounting and the quality names on bench and in the starting XI dwindling, it would appear that it’s time Liverpool started looking for some depth in the January transfer window.
Transfer funds haven’t been guaranteed this winter, so it looks like it may be time for Liverpool to dip into the loan bin for a couple of quality players to plug the gaping holes in the club’s ever-crumbling wall.
One such name being thrown around is a wantaway striker from Tottenham who’d be a great choice to fill the striker role for Fernando Torres.
Want-away Tottenham striker Roman Pavlyuchenko has emerged as a loan target for Liverpool.
The Russian has this week made it clear that he wants to leave White Hart Lane after seeing his first team opportunities dry up after the arrival of Peter Crouch in the summer.
Pavlyuchenko is desperate for the chance to impress Russia coach Guus Hiddink in order to gain a place in the national side should they qualify for the World Cup.
It has been reported that Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez is aware of the situation and is now eyeing Pavlyuchenko as a solution to the Reds striking problems.
I never thought I’d see the day where we’d need to go to the loan bin for secondary option, but these are some trying times at the moment. Pav would be a quality player — far better than Voronin and Ngog — who could pay dividends and give Liverpool another option up front.
What do you think? Would you take Pav on loan from Spurs if they ok’d a deal?

I think that it would be a good move for us and that we could really use him. Best case, we could sell Voronin and use that money offset the cost to buy Pavlyuchenko but I would take him on loan. We need reinforcements right now to salvage a top four spot.
I think pavlyuchenco would be a good signing 4 us in jan even if its a loan a big presence in the box something we been missing since crouchie left knows where the goal is and a much better option than voronin or kuyt would be so yea he would be good 4 us so we’ll see what happens in jan watch this space.
No not another average or rubbish player certainly not any tottenham rubbish. I was against johnsons signing but i have been proved wrong. We must spend big or not at all.. Fed up of rubbish in the squad
Getting off the Pavlyuchenco topic Fairweather Red, I can only watch our games from overseas but when I saw the home CL Lyon game, I thought Martin Kelly did everything that Johnson does – and he cost us nothing!!! I am absolutely sure we have others in the ressies who can step up, if only Mr Negative or Mr Super Conservative would give them a chance!
How about a RAFA all time 11 lineup
Jimmy Carter
Ronnie Rosenthal
Jimmy Traore
David Speedie
Glen Hysen
Voronin lol
Lucas
Babbel
Lucas
Diouf
Charles Itanje
Please note it’s not to be taken seriously some of these players were or are top rate but just had infamous bad spells or bad luck.. I propose a sweeper system with Voronion sweeping the carpark at melwood and perhaps peeling the oranges during the match to ensure that he makes a contribution to the game
Incidently I did a search on worst 11 players for liverpool (of all time) and Voronins photo came up in large view
fairweather red hysen, was not a bad player. and most of the players you picked were houillers. you missed torben pechnick bought by souness, dicks, paul stewart, all bought by souness…
i know that, It was an all time 11 picked by rafa…..
