And Just when we all thought we were starting to see the best of Alberto. Sure, it’s not a injury knock, so that’s a good sign, But not having Aqua in the lineup tomorrow will still hurt.
Rafa confirmed that he’s a doubt for the Lille match after picking up a virus earlier this week.
“He has a virus and is struggling with his fitness,” said Benitez earlier today.
“We have to take care of him and decide tomorrow. It will be a late decision.”
That would of course mean Dirk Kuyt would most likely get a place in the starting XI. Hopefully his benching will give him a renewed sense of purpose when he steps foot on the pitch tomorrow night. Let’s hope we see the Dirk Kuyt that gives it his all, but who also doesn’t give the ball away carelessly on countless occasions.

excuse after excuse….. how many more is rafa gonna wrap up in cotton wool? 4 crying out loud if it was any other club they would av sacked their boss months ago
I’ve just read Reira’s apparent comments about Benitez. I think a Russian team might be his answer. If what he claims is true then we won’t see him in a red shirt again. That’s definite!!!
yes george, reira has dug his own grave. i don,t blame him because rafa holds grudges. one of the reasons we lost alonso, riera is not a bad player better than kuyt and thoe he has been inconsistent he has been good when he has had a run of games. he gives us balance on the left side, which we lack at times. rafa needs to learn himself that at a club like liverpool you give your all. somethink he preaches but does not do himself. what that means is he is the manager yes, he has the final say yes, but his cold shoulder treatment to players will never work here, ok if your winning it might get you threw, but as he now has found out when things go wrong your on your own. look at shanks, paisley, dalglish. even evans they gave there all to liverpool the team, the fans, the city, and most important thePLAYERS…. rafa downfall is he listens to know one. his personallity needs major adjustments towards players, he is ok with fans but his argument is never get to close to players, as they come and go but thats wrong there are only 2 reasons why you leave liverpool one your not good enough, the second your time is up. to have loyalty you have to show it yourself ..a lesson rafa might learn to late..
How ya doing rouman have u seen the article on goal.com from the rhone group? they have given the yanks 20 days to accept/reject there offer of an 100m investment 40% for rhone group and 30% each for the yanks and do u know what they will do? yep ur right they will reject it you know why? coz they wont want an invester having a bigger stake in LFC than them! because they are greedy bastards and they want to call the shots! and it makes me sick to the stomach that these pricks have no intrest in LFC apart from making money and lining there pockets the longer those 2 are in charge the quicker we will fall!
I also fully agree with riera’s comments aswell,i can quite believe that rafa is the type of guy that would do that behind closed doors, when he’s doing interviews you cant understand what the hell he’s talking about or makes any sense! i dont think he knows to be honest do u think he’ll be with us at the start of next season rouman? or will we have to wait to see what happens with this so called take over?!? because we cant afford to sack him can we?
Back to the lille game if lucas plays as expected then we wont win, rafa must of thanked god when aquilani came down with this virus coz rafa wont keep his favourite on the bench for 2 games in a row,if aquilani doesn’t play on sunday after a fantastic game v’s pompey then i wont be watching the dross of lucas & kuyt in our team!
Rafa must be excited over Aquillani’s virus infection because he really be shamed him against pompy he made all of us who had been cursing for seeing Lucas picked ahead of him look far better managers than Rafa. But trust rafa he has already got an excuse for not playing him!. I think this is the 2nd time i hear of a virus attacking Aquillani after a decent performance from him.
At least Rafa never gave the excuse of him being tired after playing a full 90 minutes as he shamelessly said some time back. Aquillani must always be in the team like SG, Torres and Carra as long as they are fit period.
And i think we have lost enough games this season! irrespective of the game or competition or the team we are up against it should be a must win up to the end of the season.
I wonder why it has always to be Americans interested in lfc can’t we get other free spending billionaires from other countries especially where those that have oil!!!!!!.
allright kev, yes ive heard about the time limit given to hicks, and gillett. will they take it? all depends they are wating to see if they get a better offer, otherwise they would of took it by now. if they don,t then they may have to take it. as for rafa there are many rumours if we get new owners then he might go. if not he might stay due to money, the only ones to remove rafa are the fans. if he loses them (he has lost some)he,s gone. the trouble is kev he still has a big backing some say we have had too many injuries this season, i said maybey but are squad is shite. they then say were,s the money to buy big? they blame the yanks. there saying if rafa got the money for his first choice players, we would not be in the postion we are now. i use to say that too but then we had kuyt, lucas dossena and a few others why did he buy them i would have rather he played the kids. even if they were not his first choice he should of bought better. plus this italian style 1970s of football he loves is far too negative. yes kev i have had many rows with mates, and fans about rafa, thats why i say the fans are the ones to get him outat the moment its about 60/40 in his favor. its better than it use to be because at one time it was 80/20 i cannot wait till this season ends because next year will be a big year for all liverpool fans with who owns . the club manager? a new ground? money for top players?
yes next year will be big for us in more ways than one…
Just been watching ssn now rouman with guillum balague talking about the riera outburst and rafa’s future now according to him we wouldn’t have to pay him the 20m for the rest of his contract as been going around balague thinks it would be half that,so u never know also according to balague mourinho and rafa are top of real’s list for next manager but what id love to see is rafa fuck off to madrid and mourinho come to us coz lets be honest ur rouman can you see mourinho turning down the liverpool job? he would take it in a heart beat coz mourinho has said today he has a clause in his contact saying he can walk away from inter anytime he wants,i agree with riera’s outburst tho what about you?
reira is right, but he should be saying this after games. not before. because it distracts the news away from tonights game. plus mourino would run to liverpool. will we get him? if rafa goes i would say yes. ive allways known rafa would not get 20mil most get only half even keegan lost out when he took newcasle to court. they offered him more than the court did. rafa will take 10mil. but will he be gone? only rafa knows that , rafa loves madrid but with them its champions league or nothink. so it might do him, then again he likes italy, so he might opt for juventus. but reira is in his rights to complain only go tell rafa reira, bollock him, then when you do go tell your story like alonso did. then most fans won,t bollock him if he ever plays again, or comes back with a new team. thats why alonso is respected, he said nothink till he left, as did arbaloa. but reira knew what he was doing ,he wants out now he has his wish…
can some please tell what reira said about rafa apparently i am having a problem with accessing news websites . so i am behind the new just give a summary thx.
Well JB riera said that rafa doesnt talk to his players and that we are sinking ship to that affect but if u ask me jb i agree with riera rafa doesnt seem to know what he’s talking about himself half of the time or makes sense im just fed up with the guy now he’s been here to long and its time 4 a fresh face with new ideas and someone that can motivate the players all that rafa cant do!
@rouman – Mate, I can’t see a scenario right now with the way things are where Mourinho would come here. He may love what our club stands for and the support the fans give the manager and players, but our financial situation would frustrate him to no end. He could sell players and buy what he needs, but at some point you’ve got to have an owner with deep pockets to buy a couple of big names. He’s had that kind of situation at Chelsea, and Inter had some players he was more than happy to move (Ibra) for his players. I just can’t fathom him selling Nando for a couple of big names. Ibra is shit in big matches, so I can understand his reasoning for selling him on, but we both know Torres is class in big matches and would be a “no sell.” So who would we move to supplement some bigger names?
Assuming Hicks and Gillett fuck off or a new owner comes in to help, then I could see Mourinho maybe coming in. But at this point, I just don’t see it. Better chance he goes to City with their deep pockets if Mancini gets the boot. Just my humble opinion.
