Borini faces three months out due to surgery

Liverpool Football Club have confirmed striker Fabio Borini has undergone surgery on a fractured bone in his foot, with the striker now could face three months out of action.

It leaves Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers with just one fit striker in Luis Suarez.

A club statement reads: ‘Liverpool have confirmed Fabio Borini is to undergo an operation on a fractured bone in his foot.

‘The forward originally sustained an injury to the area during the recent Anfield clash with Manchester United.

‘He then further aggravated the problem resulting in a fracture and returned from international duty with Italy last week.

‘Borini was assessed by the club’s medical team upon his return to Melwood and a decision was made for the 21-year-old to have surgery.

‘Typically, an injury of this nature requires a three-month rehabilitation period.’

With Borini Injured and Suarez currently the Reds only first team Striker, the stage is set for the 18-year old striker, Samed Yesil to shine.

Yesil has scored 3 goals for Germany over the international break and to date the striker has scored 31 goals in 29 games for Germany’s youth team.

He’s only young but if he can reproduce his Germany form in the EPL, this could prove a blessing in disguise. Borini hasn’t done much since he arrived so we won’t miss him that much, especially if Yesil scores a few :0) still wish Borini well in his recovery of course.
