Jamie Carragher has claimed that Andy Carroll would be ‘remembered forever’ for sending the Reds to the FA Cup final at the expense of Everton and said that his winner was worth £35 million on its own.
Carroll has come in for criticism following his £35m transfer from Newcastle but the England striker was the toast of Liverpool’s traveling fans on Saturday after a brilliant Winner on the 87th-minute to clinch a 2-1 Victory for the Reds.
“He (Carroll) will be remembered forever – a goal against Everton in a semi-final,” said the No.23. “That goal’s worth £35 million on its own, for me!
“And Suarez – I wouldn’t swap him for any player in the league.”
Asked to sum up how he felt beating our Mersey rivals, Carragher added: “It’s relief, really. Losing to Everton would have been an absolute nightmare.
“I was involved in their goal to start with and if we’d lost that 1-0 I don’t think I’d ever have recovered, to be honest.
“We showed what Liverpool are about. David Moyes said the whole country was with them but we’re a special club with special fans. Not many teams could come back.
“We did it before in 1986 when Everton were 1-0 up at half-time and we’ve done it again. We’ve got that ability to come back.
“Liverpool are expected to be in finals and win trophies. We’ve won one, let’s win another.”
