Uruguayan starlet Gaston Ramirez has been tracked by Liverpool for many months, have they finally landed the highly-rated midfielder? Ramirez’s agent, Pablo Betancourt has recently arrived in England and is set to speak to a Premier League club regarding a deal for the 21 year old.
Betancourt told The Mercato, “Gaston is ready to leave Italy – so much so I am in England for talks with a Premier League club.” “He is one of the most important players in Uruguray, so there are no shortage of offers,” he further added.
Liverpool’s interest in the starlet appeared to have died down a few weeks ago amid reports all interest in Gaston had ended with the sacking of Damien Comolli. Interest has seemingly since been reignited and it seems Liverpool are in pole position for him. Tottenham, Inter Milan and Juventus are also thought to be closely tracking Ramirez but are unwilling to fork out the £15 million Bologna want for him. Ramirez is also in London on international duty with Uruguay for the 2012 Olympic Games.
If the club in question is in fact Liverpool, the transfer should be wrapped up in the next two weeks. I leave you with some stats and facts on Ramirez.
*Scored 8 goals and assisted 4 in 33 league games last season
*Has 11 international caps for Uruguay
*Seen as one of the most up and coming young prospects in football subjecting him to interest from Barcelona, the two Manchester clubs and Italian giants Inter and AC Milan
Seems like an interesting player, watching him in the Olympics should give us a better idea on how good he is when pit against top notch players from all over the world.2 Comments
