LFC Chalkboards: How did Flanagan do against Man City?

John Flanagan made his debut at right back against Man City after Martin Kelly and Glen Johnson were ruled out injured, and the 18 year old local lad barely put a foot wrong all game. We have chalkboard analysis of his performance in the 3-0 win at Anfield.

Flanagan got the nod at 6pm, just 2 hours before kick off and was guided through the game by Jamie Carragher, but he didn’t let the occasion get the better of him, and even managed a great turn on Dzeko in the 73rd minute. Here’s the breakdown of his performance, with the chalkboards thanks to Guardian chalkboards

Passes
Attempted – 66
Successful – 52

Tackles:
Attempted – 2
Successful – 2

Clearances
Attempted – 5
Successful – 2

Hopefully we’ll see more of him this season, where he can build on last night’s performance.

    Flanagan should be rewarded for his good display by giving him another chance against arsenal, he’s done a very good job and need to be encouraged. the good thing about him is that HE DOES NOT PASS THE BALL BACK TO THE KEEPER ALL THE TIME LIKE CARAGHER, he tries to send it forward even if he needs to dribble or lose it far upward in the opponent box. We need to keep all our 3 right backs, and have options on their versatility, if need be we then can play kelly as central defender, or if need be johnson on the left in crisis periods, but i won’t mid if we can sell johnson and get back all the cash we paid for him.

    @Criticalmind
    I cant imagine selling glen johnson. He is too good and a red. Kelly and this kid still have a lot of work to do before they reach,johnsons level.

    we are exceptionally well placed with our youth policy (and for that we must largely thank Rafa). Forget the mancs saying we beat their Under 16′s at the week-end, that was a bloody good victory. Sterling, Suso keep getting a mention but you could also include about seven other names as well. Watch out also for Lewis HATCH who played I think for the first time in months on Saturday because of injury. Add him to your list!!!!! If KD was able to do it (and sadly I don’t think he will just because of the kids being too young), but if he was able to keep feeding the kids into the first team, he would save LFC absolutely millions. For those of us who can go back that far, Matt Busby did it with his Busby babes many years ago.It would take a lot of nerve and courage from Kenny, but giving lads who REALLY wanted to play for our club, game time will continue the resurgence of our great club. Post Hodgson’s departure, Blackpool and West Brom away will haunt us at seasons end but we ARE on the way up now, no doubt after the past two matches. YNWA. George.

My apologies regarding my terrible english, but I’m german.
