LFC v Man City preview

Liverpool face Man City at Anfield on Monday night without Daniel Agger, Glen Johnson, Martin Kelly and Steven Gerrard, who has been ruled out for the rest of the season, so trying to avenge the 3-0 defeat to City suffered earlier this season will be a challenge.

Roy Hodgson was in charge when we went to Man City, and he listened to Andy Gray, played Gerrard as a central midfielder in a 442, and we got destroyed, however this time round we have strikers who want to play for us, Meireles has found his feet and of course a manager that wants to attack, so hopefully a win is on the cards.

Although we’re without the likes of Agger, Kelly, Johnson and Gerrard, we’re at home and have two fully fit strikers, so perhaps Kenny will opt for the 352 that beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, looking something like:

Reina
Carra Kygriakos Skrtel
Flanagan Aurelio
Lucas Spearing
Meireles
Suarez Carroll

Maybe there’s not alot of width in that team, but City like to play wide with the likes of Johnson and Silva, so we need to keep it tight to contain Tevez & Dzeko (Balotelli will probably just moan all game and do nothing)

A win would put us two points behind Spurs in 5th, but they’d have 2 games in hand on us then, so I’m not going to get my hopes up of a European spot too much. I reckon we’ll win by a small margin; either 1-0 or 2-1.
