Liverpool Transfer News Latest

Liverpool Boss Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that the Reds are in talks with Cardiff City over the possibility of Craig Bellamy rejoining the Welsh club.

Bellamy scored six goals in 24 appearances for Liverpool after moving to Anfield on a free transfer little over 12 months ago.

“We have been in talks with him and Cardiff,” said the Liverpool manager. Rodgers revealed he spoke to Bellamy during the early stages of the summer and the striker revealed his desire to be back closer to his family.

“I had a really good meeting with Craig before I moved up here,” Rodgers said. “He is a big Liverpool supporter but I also understand his thinking.

“He is 33 and has travelled around the country all his life, so there are compassionate reasons. We will look at it but we will wish him all the best and move forward.”

Rodgers has also confirmed Liverpool haven’t received any bid for Daniel Agger, but admitted Liverpool would consider parting with the defender if the price is right.

“Daniel is a top player and you do not want to lose your best players,” Rodgers said. “He has been here seven years. He loves the club and its supporters. But every player has his price and we will see where it goes.”

Agger probably is the most complete centre-back in the Premier League and I wonder how the Reds can replace a player with Agger’s ability especially when Liverpool are not offering Champions league football.

Share your opinion with us. Do you think selling Agger for a fee around £20million would be a good deal? or should we do everything we can to hold on to him?

Liverpool F.C. should not think of selling Agger.

We have Coates. Quality defender & scores a goal or two.

He’s good at intercepting passes and all but he’s not fast enough, at least not yet/

It’s true that everyone has his price but if He wants to stay let Keep him. If he will go.. he is a world Class player he should go for around 30-35.

20M + Adam Johnson would be better!

Please keep him. If sold must be to a foreign club. We can’t sell him to our closest rivals. I shudder to think of seeing him in the blue of Mancy.

Liverpool my Club is like that.Buying players highly and selling them on a cheap.Dirk Kyt was sold for how much? 1m? i wonder

He’s injury prone, struggles to play more than 5 or 6 straight games often, and is currently at a peak value, his injuries will limit him in the future as they have in the past, and he wont last as long as other quality defenders (past 31ish) at the top level, so i think we should sell now, if we get offered a premium rate.

I was really sad to hear about Agger possibly leaving, especially as he’s said twice that he wants to stay. I now understand that Rodgers is looking at a minimum of £17m plus Adam Johnson, which is pretty damn good business as Johnson was being touted at around £15m and the deal would effectively pay for him and Joe Allen.

As long as Agger is replaced with an experienced international who can captain the defence, keep Skrtel in check and can play a full season, then it would seem to make sense.

As for the guy who said Coates is ready to step up, he isn’t. Neither he or Skrtel have any leadership qualities whatsoever and it would be a calamity at the back! Maybe if Kenny had given him some playing time.

As for the guy saying we shouldn’t sell Agger to one of our closest rivals, do you really see Man City as one of our closest rivals?! lol. Try teams like Everton, Fulham and Swansea unless we get some players in, and thats what the Agger move will do…
