Newcastle v Liverpool : Probable Starting Line up and Predictions

Premier League; Sunday 1st April 2012

Venue : Sports Direct Arena, Newcastle

Kick off – 13:30 GMT

 Liverpool

The Reds travel to the north east to face Newcastle United this weekend, looking to get their league form back after suffering back-to-back defeats against QPR and Wigan. Liverpool are currently eight points behind Newcastle. There is no doubt that this will be a cracker of a game with both teams looking to finish as high as possible in the table. Liverpool midfielder Charlie Adam will miss the trip to the North East as he continues his rehabilitation from a knee problem. Bellamy, Johnson and Agger are back in training and could well be in contention for a Liverpool starting spot provided they are match-fit on Sunday. However Lucas Leiva continues to sit out as he works on a slow return to training as the season ends. I’d personally like to see Dalglish give some much needed game time to the young boys. Sterling, Shelvey and co could really benefit from a decent run out and could even save Liverpool some money in the next transfer window if there given a chance.

Probable Starting Lineup (4-4-2):

Reina, Skrtel, Carragher, Flanagan, Enrique, Downing, Gerrard, Spearing, Kuyt, Carroll, Suarez

Newcastle

Alan Pardew will be boosted by the return of Ryan Taylor and Cheick Tiote who have recovered from knocks. However, captain Fabricio Coloccini is sidelined after picking up a hamstring injury at the Hawthorns last weekend. Pardew will also have to do without the services of striker Leon Best who has been out of action since February when he injured his knee in a game against Aston Villa. The striker is close to a return to training but still has to bide some more time in the stands before he marks his return to the first team. He is unlikely to feature against Liverpool.

Probable Starting Lineup (4-3-3):

Krul, Simpson, Williamson, Perch, Santon, Ben Arfa, Guthrie, Cabaye, Gutierrez, Cisse, Ba..

Predictions

Newcastle 1 – Liverpool 1
