England beat Paraguay 1-0 in their first game of the world cup.
Steven Gerrard started the game after it was reported he was injured, and seemed to have no effects of the injury.
The goal came after just 4 minutes, when Beckham put a free kick into the box, only for Camarra to head into his own goal.
England didn’t create that many chances, the only ones they did were hit over the bar by Lampard and Gerrard.
Paraguay were all over England in the second half, but failed to find the back of the net.
England now top their group as Sweden drew with Trinidad and Tobago.

Carlos Tenorio opened the scoring after 24 minutes, heading in a flick on from Delgado.
Former southampton striker Agustin Delgado scored the second, with just 10 minutes left, to give Ecuador their biggest world cup win ever, with the only other win in 2002 was 1-0.

Germany opened the 2006 with a 4-2 win over Costa Rica.
Germany opened the scoring after just 6 minutes when Philip Lahm curled in a shot from the edge of the penalty area.
Costa Rica replied through Paolo Wanchope after 12 minutes, beating the offside trap to squeeze the ball under Lehman.
Germany went back infront through Klose, who tapped in a low cross from just inside the 6 yard box.
Klose then made it 3-1 with a follow up from a header that was well saved, and the game looked in the bag.
Wanchope popped up again to score to make it 3-2, before Torsten Frings belted a shot from 25 yards straight into the top corner to wrap up the win for Klinnsman’s men.

Juventus midfielder Mauro Camoranesi has been today linked with a move to Anfield.
Juventus could be relegated due to recent revelations regarding match fixing, which could see them drop to Serie B or even lower, which would spell the start of most of the top players leaving.
Rafa has made no secret of his desire to sign a right winger, and , if Juve do get relegated, they wont be able to afford any of the wages, as attendances in Italy are at an all time low, especially in Turin where the Serie A champions have failed to sell out all season, sometimes attendances being less than half the capacity of the stadium, along with the less income from the league.
Juve could be forced to sell their players cheap, and Camoranesi has been linked with a move away from the club before, and Liverpool could be a target as they are in the Champions league.

Marseille President Pape Diouf has said L’OM still want to sign Djibril Cisse.
Speaking on the club’s official website, Diouf said when asked about Cisse :
"We are still of the same mind as we were before the injury,The relationship between Djibril Cissé and OM is based on understanding and a mutual desire to come together.
Now, the most important thing for us is that the player recovers as quickly as possible. That’s the most important thing in our opinion. He’s already shown that he’s capable of getting back to his best. We’re convinced that despite the misfortune which he’s experienced, he will bounce back. At any rate, the lines of communication with Liverpool have remained open.”
Alot of people have been speculating that the transfer was off due to the injury, however, with the president of Marseille still saying he wants to sign Cisse, as soon as he is back to fitness a move will more than likely happen.

Middlesbrough’s Mark Viduka is the latest person to be linked to Liverpool today.
Apparently, Viduka could be available for £1.5million, as Rafa now looks for a replacement for Cisse after his horrific leg break injury.
As this is just media speculation at the moment, i would not read too much into it.

Spanish club Sevilla are claiming they have rejected an offer from Liverpool for Daniel Alves.
Rafa has been chasing a right midfielder for a long time now, and Alves has apparently been on his wish list for a while.
Sevilla president Jose Maria Del Nido said :
"It is not necessary to hide that a tempting offer for Alves arrived on Wednesday, but that was rejected because it does not meet the amount the club demands.
"Everybody knows that Liverpool have been chasing Alves for a year and that every week offers a million Euros more."
Sevilla have now valued Alves at £12million in a bid to stop him leaving the club.

Rafa Benitez is weighing up a bid for Craig Bellamy.
Rafa has recently stated that Cisse was on his way out of the club, saying that Liverpool were going to use the money for other transfers, and if Cisse did go the reds would have been short upfront.
However, with Djibril injured, Liverpool still need another striker, and although the likes of Kuyt and Defoe have been mentioned, Bellamy has a release clause of £6million in his contract, which could prove ideal for Rafa who will be short on transfer funds due to the non sale of Cisse.
Bellamy’s clause allows any Champions League club who puts an offer of £6million or more to have the offer accepted, but at the end of July this Clause disappears and Blackburn can value him at any price they want.
Bellamy is a pacey striker with a good eye for goal, scoring 17 goals in 32 appearances for Blackburn Rovers last season.
Craig is apparently a Boyhood Liverpool fan, and if offered, is highly unlikely to turn down a move to the FA Cup winners.
AnfieldRed will keep you updated on this story should any offer emerge.

Didi Hamann is on the verge of signing for Bolton, according to reports.
Rafa is willing to let him go on a free transfer, as he is due to sign a right winger soon, meaning Didi will have competition from Alonso, Sissoko and Gerrard for a place in the centre. He nearly signed for Bolton last year but then extended his contract with the reds for another season.
Hamann signed in 1999 for £8million from Newcastle, and since then has won everything apart from the Premiership title with Liverpool.
Didi will be missed in the midfield, after all it was him who saved Liverpool’s champions league final, keeping Kaka under wraps in teh second half.
Neither club has confirmed the news yet, but are expected to confirm it today.
AnfieldRed would like to wish Hamann all the best with Bolton.
