Gerrard Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has denied he intentionally stamped on Kevin Nolan after the game at the Reebok stadium.

Nolan has since come out and said he does not think it was on purpose either. Gerrard said ”It was a complete accident – he fell into me,”I couldn’t avoid him and that was that.

”I am mates with Kevin Nolan. He’s a good Scouser so why would I ever try to deliberately hurt him?

”We spoke at the end of the match. I wished him well for the rest of the season and the tackle wasn’t even mentioned.

Nolan said " I do not think it was intentional, I was disappointed and wanted to have a look at it but I didn’t see much wrong with it. I would not want anything to happen to him now because it was an accident."

Rafa speaks about draw

rafa benitez Here is what Rafa said about the game….

"I am very disappointed because we did a lot of things to win the match and we deserved to win.  Bolton are very difficult to play against and they had a lot of free-kicks and throw-ins and you can’t play the football you want to play. I like to play football as well as possible and in the second half we were very good and had a strong character to come from behind.

We made a mistake for the first goal but we did well in the second half. We had some players tired and I tried to use fresh legs but I put on Luis Garcia and Xabi Alonso and they did well for the equaliser. I am very disappointed though we didn’t win the game

Diouf still dirty

Diouf has always had a bit of a rep, often being unable to control his temper whilst with Liverpool and made ‘famous’ for his spitting incident.

With the goal today he appeared to use his hand and was offside, but what about the rest of his game?

John Aldridge laid into Diouf on the radio, saying he was a cheat and was glad he would never wear a Liverpool shirt again.  Aldo usually has this sort of attitude to people hitting the floor easily with previous recent digs being aimed at Drogba.

What did you think of Diouf’s performance?

Draw at Bolton

Liverpool came back from behind twice to earn a point in a controvesial draw.

Jaidi had given Bolton a 10th minute lead, heading in to capitalise on goalkeeper Jose Reina’s blunder. Reina went to catch the ball, only for Hyypia to kick it from his grasp, leaving Jaidi to head in.  Liverpool pulled level midway through the second half when Gerrard was sent down the left, outpacing Bolton defender O’Brien, who brought him down for a penalty. Gerrard put it to the keepers left right into the bottom corner.

Four minutes later El Hadji Diouf bundled home Kevin Davies’ cross, but Luis Garcia’s great chest control gave him the space to volley the equaliser.  Xabi Alonso played a long cross field ball, for Garcia to chest it down, then smash it home to make it 2-2.

There were a few incidents in game including a hard tackle from Sissoko on Diouf and Nolan started after he left Gerrards boot came in too heavy when he was on the ground. Diouf was diving all game, which Carragher didnt like, so give him a good kick, something i certainly would like to do.

Hopefully the FA will ban this excuse for a player after todays attempts to con the ref.

LIverpool have now gone 11 league games unbeaten.

Kewell back to his best?

Harry KewellKEWELL: IS HE BACK?

A  look at Harry Kewell from an AnfieldRed user.

Euphoria hits Anfield in July 2003 when it was made official that Leeds United star Harry Kewell had signed for Liverpool Football Club. Surely this was the final piece of the jigsaw that Gerard Houllier had promised. For six months, it seemed so. On his debut season he scored 11 goals, but January onwards we started to see the Harry Kewell that Liverpool fans have known for the past year and a half, an injured Harry Kewell. Since than Liverpool fans had been praying for the return of the player who helped take Leeds to Champions League Semi-Final stage. However, to no avail, until on the 29th December 2005 against West Brom who Liverpool have an aggregate score of 38-4 since the late 1970’s.

Fans have seen signs of the ‘old’ Harry Kewell but against WBA we saw ‘THE’ Harry Kewell that Liverpool bought in 2003. He had confidence, he ran at player, he looked like a confident player and he looked like he deserved to wear the liverbird upon his chest. From the boos of Istanbul to the cheers of Anfield, Harry Kewell has returned or has he?

Like I said he played well against WBA, with all respect to them they are not Chelsea, Barcelona or Juventus. This was only one game, not a 10 game unbeaten run like Liverpool’s. Liverpool to challenge Chelsea need 100% from all players, you know the saying about one bad apple. So I think that some Liverpool fans are getting ahead of themselves as they are entitled to their own opinions but would you prefer a one game excellence or 38 games of solid play like Steve Finnan. So think about this, wait 10 games until you judge Harry Kewell whatever your opinion of him.

What my opinion is he has the potential, but I am not sure if he has the mindset to play for his childhood club to his full potential, that is why I will wait 10 games. If he is consistent throughout those games he should stay, however if he does not play to his high standards, show him the door.
