Rodgers Confirms Interest in Allen

Brendan Rodgers today confirmed the Reds are interested in Swansea midfielder Joe Allen but claims no negotiations are taking place.

The Boss has already admitted making enquiries on the availability of Dempsey and Rodgers now has gone public with more transfer plans when talking about Allen while on a pre-season tour in the USA

“I have a great relationship with Swansea, but if there is a market for any of the players I would like to be in that market,” Rodgers said.

“He [Allen] is a very talented player, which everyone knows, but there is nothing more at the moment. When players come to a club such as Liverpool, it’s never straightforward.

“As a manager you want them in sooner rather than later, but the main thing is to get them in before the beginning of the season. If we do that, our job will be done.”

The 22-year old is valued around £16m, a fee similar to what we paid to Sunderland for Jordan Henderson. With liverpool already having enough plenty of options in the midfield department do you think £16m is worth a bid for Allen who’s not yet established himself at the very top of the game?
