Rodgers confirms Suso set to sign new Liverpool deal

Manager Brendan Rodgers today confirmed Spanish starlet, Suso is on the brink of signing a new long term contract at the club.

The 18-year-old who has recently broken into the first team had an exciting impact so far this season. Suso is in the last year of his current deal and Rodgers has dismissed fears by confirming the starlet will sign a new deal very soon.

“He will sign a new contract later which shows our commitment to him and shows he is very happy here and feels he has hope, which is important,” said Rodgers.

I have been really impressed. He is a good boy and very keen to learn,” Rodgers added.

“He is a wonderful technician, he’s very bright and a thinking player – which I like.

“He needs to add goals to his game but obviously when you are a young player coming into the team you are really just trying to settle in.

“But for him he is very creative and he works very hard.

“He’s done very well; there is a long way to go but he’s shown excellent promise.”

Signing Suso to a long term deal is a major coupe for Liverpool as he will be a major player in the future. Lets hope some of our other exciting youngsters follow his lead and commit their long term future to the club.

It’s now confirmed he has signed which is great news. He’s an outstanding prospect who is ready for the big step up. Although it was clearly a mistake not to sign a striker when we let Carroll go, the signing of our young starlets and bringing them into the team is what we have needed to happen. We can’t spend like City and Chelsea but we have such good quality in our Academy that we will reap the rewards of getting them young for many years to come. Sterling, Shelvey, Suso, Pacheco, Wisdom as well as Kelly who has already shown himself to be a quality defender, these are all names who could be part of a top Liverpool side in two to three years. Be patient with them just as we were with the likes of Stevie G when he first broke into the side and we have the potential to BUILD our own world class side for a whole lot less money than the mega rich ‘buy at whatever price’ teams.

We have had criticism for our ‘buy now play later’ policy as people wanted instant success but we are very close now to proving the policy has worked well :0)
