Rodgers hails wonderful Suarez after hat-trick at Norwich

Liverpool recorded their first win in the Barclays premier League after Luis Suarez struck a hat-trick at Carrow Road for Liverpool’s 5-2 win over Norwich City on Saturday.

The 25-year-old became the first Reds player to ever score three goals in the same away league fixture in successive seasons.

Skipper Steven Gerrard and Nuri Sahin were also on target at Carrow Road as the reds inflicted a second successive defeat upon Norwich.

“I remember his game last year and his goals were incredible,” said Rodgers. “I’ve got to say, this was another master class in finishing.

“His first goal was terrific. We built it from behind and played through the lines. There was a nice combination on the edge of the box and he finished it well.

“His second one typifies him because 10 seconds earlier he missed probably his easiest chance [of the afternoon]. He doesn’t get disappointed and immediately he gets back onto the ball and with an incredible piece of skill, he nutmegs the defender and finishes with the outside of his foot.

“It was a special day for him – and more importantly, a special day for the team.

“I thought the performance and how we got between the lines, and played and passed, and had relentless possession was pleasing.”

The team will need to consume a few recovery drinks to ensure they are fit and raring to go for the upcoming Europa League game against Udinese on Thursday.

For the first time this season, Liverpool’s performance matched the result. A truly wonderful display of passing and attacking football from the Reds. How does everyone rate Liverpool’s performance against Norwich??

Good on you BR and the lads!!!! I was more apprehensive about the Norwich game than I was the match against the mancs!!! If we had lost on Saturday after the good performance at WBA, it would have been a real kick in the guts. However all came good in a big way. Now for another satisying week with wins against Udinese and Stoke. I’ve said this before that, whilst I loved and still do love what KK did and does stand for at Anfield, I reckon he would probably not have pushed Sterlo, Suso, Wisdom etc forward as much as BR has. We will never know, but our lack of funds (apparently) at present has left BR with little choice to see what talent our club really has. He’s digging and he’s coming up with some pretty good sized pieces of gold at present. I go along with the argument that we shouldn’t overuse the kids because of their age but BR seems to have that well in hand and, now that the players really seem to understand how he wants them to play and press, we could be on the edge of a great turn around in the fortunes of our club. I like what I am seeing and reading about, I really do. Well done BR!!!! YNWA.
