Rodgers vows to give youngsters chance to impress

Manager Brendan Rodgers admits he is looking forward giving a first team run for some of Liverpool’s younger squad member after failing to add to his squad on deadline day.

Liverpool sold Dirk Kuyt and Craig Bellamy during the recently concluded transfer window, while Andy Carroll joined West Ham on a season-long loan deal.

“There might need to be an intermediary way of working now” Rodgers told Liverpool FC

“Boys like Suso will get their opportunity. The percentage of under 21s playing in the Premier League is statistically very, very small.

“We are going to be stretched to the limit and [we'll be telling them] ‘if you’ve got little niggles and injuries you’ve got to man up.’ We’ve got to be together and be strong.

“This situation will allow guys to stand up to the plate. You get an opportunity but you have got to take it.

New signing Samed Yesil and Midfielder Jonjo Shelvey has offered Liverpool hope after their stand out Performance on International Stage.

Yesil found the net twice as Germany U19s beat an England side featuring Raheem Sterling and Adam Morgan .

The 18 year old scored after two minutes of each half, and set up the final goal for teammate Sebastian Kerk.

You can watch his goals below.

Midfielder Jonjo Shelvey was also on top form after he scored one and set up another as England U-21s dominated 2-0 in Azerbaijan.

The U21s were Captained by Jordan Henderson , while full back Martin Kelly also started.

So why has he even got Carragher in the Squad , don`t tell me its for his
experience , his lack of ability outweighs all his socalled attributes

great as he has been Carra must be only used sparingly from now on. He must be now only fourth choice behind Agger, Skrtel and Coates in the centre, otherwise that makes a mockery fo what BR is saying about youth. We have very good (if not outstanding) youth to come through and BR will use this I’m sure. (in fact I’m more certain about this than when we had KK at the helm. He just didin’t seem to want to take the chance, and in fairness perhaps Sterling etc were too young six or seven months back). We have two periods of very crowded fixtures coming up and we shall see if BR is as good as his word. I hope, in addition to Suso, he also gives Pachecho a meaningful run.If then BR doesn’t feel that Danni will make it, then so be it. I know that comments are made about Pach’s ability, attitude etc, etc and that’s fair enough but i want BR to make that deciision only after he has given Pach a fair go. Which, to me he has never had at Anfield. At the moment we don’t have much to lose.

hi george. a bad start to the sesaon, only game ive seen any good was the man city game…iam not convinced by rodgers i said that when we first got him..his buys borni, thoe ok and young no way a 11mil player and he is not the answer to are scoring problem..he wants that ex swansea keeper who cannot get a game were he,s at is he playing sterling now because sterling was going to leave? he talks the talk brendon, i wanna see him walk the walk….his team at swansea was given to him by martinez, he carried it on he,s been sacked twice..he has won nothink..i think in 6 months he will be blamed by owners(as usual) and we will be back to square one..i hope iam wrong…but faith i lost a while back…the disgracefull sacking of dalglish, yes he made mistakes and he knew it.. bad buys but i still think he would of turned it around,, look at steve clark now its his first job as manager.. he makes brendon look naive…at best…

Yes mate, I agree with you about Clarke and also our really bad start. Well I’ll stand by BR until january. But he MUST show us something by then or yes i reckon he will be on his bike, and as you say we’ll again be back to square one. Like you I’m not at all convinced about Borini. I was at the WBA game and when I saw Cole come on I actually laughed out loud. Also we made really heavy weather against Hearts and we will have to rasie our game significantly to get past the group stage. The draw did us no favours!! One point from three games and no confidence. Doesn’t do too much for my confidence either going to Sunderland!!

Hi Julie, Reina’s case is an unusual one. Over the years he has saved us time and again (no pun intended!!). But like everyone, you are only as good as your last game(s) and Pepe at the moment isn’t the guy he was. Some have changed their opinion of him and I’ve seen him referred to recently in posts as `the Spanish teams cheer leader, the drinks waiter etc, etc’. Of course there is also speculation we are after a German ‘keeper. Who knows? What I DO know is that there is a mystery surrounding Doni. He just seems to have disappeared, some say back to Brazil for `personal reasons’. He took no part in the USA tour so he has been gone for a long time!!!! I’m loving Raheem getting his chance both at Anfield and, a bit surprising, his very quick England call up. Many, many years ago Sir Matt Busby had the man Utd team and they called them the Busby Babes because he had so many young players in his team. And boy, did they repay him and they were really good, sadly nearly all cut down in the Munich air disaster. So, it can be done and I applaud BR for pushing Sterling in and I REALLY hope he also does give the new lad Yesil a chance as well, if not in the PL, then in the League Cup or Europa Cup. We potentially have another Fowler/Owen in him I hope. He certainly knows where the net is and we REALLY need someone to score for us – REGULARLY. Hoping (but not confident0 of a win at Sunderland on Saturday!!!
